Schrade Walden – Jim Bowie Commemorative Repair

Post by orvet »

I didn’t get any before pictures with this knife. I had too much going on and was trying to get it repaired without too many more delays.

The knife is a Schrade Jim Bowie commemorative. It’s built on the same frame as the 8OT but has a shield on either side of the knife and of course the Jim Bowie blade etch. The knife appears to have had some sort of corrosive liquid spilled on and in it at some point, which made it rather less appealing.

Here's a picture of the knife apart, you can see some of the corrosion and how it affected the shields.

The owner wanted it to have some nice bone handles and no shields. I think he wants it for a user.
I thought the bone I used on it looked really nice on this frame.
I hope you enjoy the pictures.

Nice job Dale!
I still think I would put it in a case and not actively use it. I'd rather tote an 8 OT and show case your work. You did a great job of choosing some beautiful scales and YES... that fit the look of the knife nicely!

Beautiful job with a very nice outcome. TOP NOTCH!!!!

Thanks Glenn. I believe it was Whiskey colored Catalina jigging from Culpeper. I liked it so well I called them and wanted to order some more and the lady told me they don't do that color anymore. She did say the new bourbon color is pretty close. Unfortunately I can't find it yet in a Catalina jigging pattern.

Dale, that's gorgeous! I gotta say, that bowie shield looks pretty cool...but I think the knife looks better, without it. ::tu:: ::tu:: ::tu::
