Dating Camillus (or Camco) knives is a tricky proposition at best. Sometimes pictures of the knife will help, sometimes not.Sasquach wrote:Indeed. Nice 53 Jerry.
The Camco I posted a little earlier also has no snap. The number stamped on the pile side of the master blade is 511. Also, I said dark brown handle, now while looking in brighter light, the scales are black. As I said I found it in one of my Dad's old tool boxes. Looks like he used it hard and it had rusted quite a bit laying in that tool box until I found it. I did some minimal cleaning and added it to the Camillus section. Any idea how to date it?

Great pick up Jerry. Thank you for turning me on to the one I got.
Charlie you made two great funnies. I laughed at both. Very witty! I love it. Not only wonderful knives but a great sense of humor as well.

Here's a little Camco jack with dark brown Delrin (I think) scales. I found it in one of my Dad's old tool boxes after he passed. I'm guessing that it dates from the 60s but don't know for sure.

Very nice "53"!jerryd6818 wrote:And what better way to get back to knives than with a Camillus #53. This is my third one and only the 4th one I've seen and my first with the pattern number stamped on it. My experience with these so far is they were used and loved to death. This particular one has no snap. Well the main blade will snap if the pen blade is completely open, otherwise both blades have to be pushed closed. Never the less, I'm happy to have it and the price was rock bottom.

Picked these two up at a show. 81 and 69. Both Etched De Luxe Stock knives. Both bone. The 81 with the reddish bone is a later made knife in the 60's I believe. Some of the last before they went to Delrin.

That 69 is a beauty! I came close on one a month or so ago but while looking at the extra pics I asked for someone beat me to it. I've become very selective with my knife purchases over the last few months but am always on the lookout for a nice bone 69.Eye Brand Man wrote:Picked these two up at a show. 81 and 69. Does yours have the coined liner and fancy backspring spacer?

Here are the two Camillus Knives I own right now. I've just purchased a third from Millstom78 that I'll show when it arrives.
The first is a US M4 First Production WWII, knife bayonet produced by Camillus Cutlery Co, for use on the caliber .30 U.S. Carbine M1 The second is a Camillus US Army Knife from 1975 (Vietnam Era)

Hey Guys, Thought I would post my Sword Brand Camillus Cotton Sampler. As most of you know I use to collect antique cotton samplers. This is the only one I ever found by Camillus. Have any of you seen this pattern before in Camillus? What date would you put on this knife.
Thanks guys,
Mark

Re: Show Us Your Camillus Knives!
When my Grandpa passed away about 9yrs ago, He had this Tape Measure among his things. I could think of no better person to have this tape measure than Mr. Greg Cobb so I gifted it to him. For those of you who dont know Mr. Cobb, He is one heck of a Knife guy, A Collector of ALL Camillus stuff & a WONDERFUL Person. He put the tape measure on Display with his other Memorabilia in Camillus NY.
I hope no one minds me adding this TAPE MEASURE to the CAMILLUS Forum even though its not a knife, I dont know where else to post it.
Kind Regards,
Mark
