What Schrade RARE knife do you have

Schrade Cutlery Company was founded in 1904 by George Schrade, and his brothers Jacob and William Schrade. In 1946 Imperial Knife Associated Companies, (IKAC; an association of Ulster Knife Co and Imperial Knife Co) purchased controlling interest in Schrade Cut Co and changed the name to Schrade Walden Cutlery. In 1973 the name was changed to Schrade Cutlery. In 2004 Schrade closed due to bankruptcy.

This forum is dedicated to the knives that are the legacy of this company. This forum is not the place to discuss the replica knives currently being imported using the Schrade name.

Harold, you need to get out more often. :). The type setter knife is super nice. Looks like it made its way from Hew York City to Kansas somehow. R Hoe & Company manufactured printing press machines in New York. Here is some info on them.

tongueriver, you being a top Schrade man made me think about the pattern number on my type setting knife. I found a picture in a real early Sargents book, it was marked 891 same as a stockman with punch.

Schrade Cut Co O8883. I think this pattern might be the toughest of the obliques to get your hands on - that was certainly the case for me and I was beyond thrilled to actually find an example in such great condition. To me, that 'O' in the pattern number stands for Oh My! ::tu:: ::groove::

Thanks for the comments guys, that oblique is pretty special to me.
Here's another rare one I just got my hands on - a Schrade Cut Co 662 (Kinfolks):

Nice! I don't recall seeing one of those before. "Rare" is appropriate. Your stockman rocks as well.

The 662 was a new one for me too. I've seen plenty of leather stacked and rubber handled Cut Co/Kinfolks knives before, but never bone. I like the 662 a lot, I really do - but the oblique stockman is the one that's got me swooning like a schoolgirl - one of my top 3 grails. Thanks for the comment ::tu::

I like that cattle knife!
This 2.75" stockman doesn't look particularly rare but it's not a common 808. It's the predecessor, a single digit Schrade simply known as '8'. All 3 tangs are stamped and there's no pattern number on the blade. It's covered in Fostarene and has milled liners.

Thanks for the comments guys.

Jason you don't often see the little 2 3/4" stockmans from the cut co or all blades stamped early walden era. Nice little knife. Pre swinden 808's with the SW usa and pattern number stamped with fostarene handles are fairly easy to come by in varying condition, but the bone ones are rather hard to find for some reason.

Thanks ::tu::

I have not seen one of these in bone yet but I'd love to add one to the pile. The 2.75s in this pic are all Waldens. I collect the jacks too but these are all stockmans:
275s.jpg
805 stainless w/stratawood
8 from my post above
808 in delrin without milling
808Y done for Shapleigh
808Y stainless
809M (the M is dual purpose -it's toilet seat and also a manicure knife with the coping blade swapped out for a file)
818 (not milled)
820 propwood
302 jack in bonite - eventually I hope to find the 308 which is an 808 in bonite, not milled

Very nice lineup Jason. I am partial to the yellow ones. ::tu::

Here's a bone one. A little rough but not too bad.

Thanks for posting - that bone 808 is fantastic! I haven't seen another one, great find. Also that Schrade 8 looks absolutely mint. Very nice ::tu::
