Are you just going to admire it or use it for carving?

That's a good question, I was wondering what you folks think about that? Is it worth it to keep it in factory condition, since it has a serial number? Maybe go up in value in years to come? I guess I need to decide if I want to keep it as an investment or use as a tool. Jury is still out on this one. Any suggestions are most welcome.

That is a really good find. I don't know as much about knives as you other guys, but if it were mine, I would keep it in the condition in which I got it.

Very understandable if you choose not to use it, but on the other hand that knife is kind of begging for some pocket time…

By the way, how do you feel about the factory edge on that GEC?

Hey Don, I see you got it. It looks great man!!!! They would be great carvin knives I would think. 1095 carbon steel, I don't know how you beat that for sharpening or carvin. GECs are very solid knives with very strong springs and fine work all round. Thanks for showin us. I only have 11 with 3 more on the way and Jim is a fine guy to get it from, he's one of the best.

Thanks Larry, Froggyedge and Perry...You all make fine points, it is such a handsome knife, I hate to grind the etchings on the blades off, but 1095 carbon would be great for sharpening and carvin' and perhaps make me the envy of the local carving club I just may have to convince my better half that I "need" another one

I find the factory bevel to be like most others, I would definitely need to take it off to use for carving...I have also been eyeing a Schatt & Morgan carpenter whittler. So many knives I'd like to try, I need to get to another knife show!

Don, The only solution I see to your delemna, is to buy another one to use. I'd like to see what an experienced whittler can do with a good knife in his hands.

I'm not that experienced a whittler, but do enjoy making chips with a nice knife...I tell ya' this "peer pressure" is gonna' have me sleepin' on the couch!

One of a kind, maybe better to keep it? Or buy an identical one and use one and keep one. I like to make my own carving tools so I'd probably keep it nice and not use it. Depends on what you want to do tho. Really nice knife too.
