Buck 212 made it from C&C in the Midwest (left Monday morning) all the way to the Atlantic Coast by noon today. Lot of handle, short blade - this one is more skinner than butcher, but I’ll try it out on a deer in the fall. Feels good in the hand. OH

Two knice pick ups N W NY, I have one of the Schrade hunting and fishing knives. No wire handles yet but boy do they appeal to me.

OH that is a great looking knife. Looks like a very useful blade, not too big, and the handle is plenty big to be comfortable. And it looks good.

That Buck has some nice clean lines in its design, a sleek beauty IMO. I'd carry that one into the deer woods myself, good pick-up OH.

Thanks gents, It will be a nice addition to my Buck collection and will also be used (at least enough) to evaluate its fitness as a game knife. So far I like what I see. OH

Thanks Steve, I will. Been thinking it may make a first class boat knife, not for filleting but for cutting bait, line, etc. Short enough to stay out of the way when sitting but handy and stout. OH

This one is not exactly new. I purchased this in a small antique shop in Veliko Tarnovo, Bulgaria. The shop owner and I could not communicate all that well so I didn't get any info from her. I'm at a dead end and all I have is guesses, bassed on where I bought it. It appears from the carbon steel blade, brass guard, pommel and pins and the age of the wood it could be from the 1940's to the 1970's. It weights about 1.2 lbs. I'm not sure if it is a one of a kind or maybe military production. Could it have been Bulgarian or even Russian. Would love some clues if anyone has some.

Have you considered reaching out to our good friend and AAPK member Eustace (Georgi) who is not only knowledgeable in Eastern European cutlery but is also Bulgarian?

Yes Sir, he and I have spoken a couple of times and I was counting on him seeing my post plus anyone else that might have a familiarity with that type of knife.

Tang stamp is USA and the knife was most likely made by Colonial.
