Ebay & Sales Tax

Until recently most shopping was done locally and the sales tax collected has been an important part of State Revenue. Now a great deal of shopping is online and dealing with merchants who live in other States. State governments need sales tax revenue to be able to offer the services they do. It is completely understandable that taxing online sales is a necessity. The only other option would be to increase the tax burden in other areas like gas tax, property tax, income tax, etc.

And honestly, that's the way I view it. I'm typically against new taxes (and my county, being as poorly managed as they are, had to raise taxes, and reinstate formerly eliminated taxes, in order to balance the budget in FY 2017-2018), but it kinda has to be done to keep up with the times. However, I can understand it with large online businesses/dealers, but individuals, no.

Ebay just collect the 10% GST on items coming into Australia send by USPS.
If I purchase a item through the Global Shipping Program the charge 18%+ and make out the extra is import dues.
There is no import duties into Australia from the USA.

The gun show sellers were collecting sales tax here in Mississippi for a while. The last few shows I have gone to hasn't done it anymore. The vendors were lying about how much they collected anyway. A cash sale and the tax they charged a buyer just went in their pocket.
We are taxed to death as it is....
Taxes continue to plague the working man as UP, UP, UP they go.
How in the world do the people who actually work and pay taxes, slay the tax dragon? That dang dragon is already too big and out of hand.

On another note, Amazon I noticed had sales tax listed on items from Japan I was getting ready to order. Typically, I was only charged sales tax if what I ordered was coming from an Amazon warehouse, never third-party sellers (except for a few whose stuff shipped from Blue Ridge Knives in Marion).
