I need pricing suggestion

Post by USMARINE »

Hi,
I am new to knife collecting, buying, and selling. We sell knives out of our shop and I am dealing mainly in case knives. At this point I have around 70 to 80 knives I am trying to price and having a hard time pricing them. Some being prototypes, transition knives, SFO knives, Limited runs, and all sorts of other similar types (most being not a standard model). Are there a couple book suggestions someone might have or maybe any other suggestions for help with pricing these items. I currently have two books which are "Pocket knife trader's guide volume 8" and "Knives and Razors 6th edition. Thank You for your time and any help you may offer.[/color]

welcome to the site. try searching ebay for similar knives from past sales. this will give you some idea of market value. the books you have are great research tools but the prices are unrealistic in most cases. they are based on knives just as they left the factory, new. and being written by knife dealers, inflated.

if your new to collecting and allready have 70 to 80 knives, i'd say you jumped in to it feet first and are sinking pretty fast! ::tu::

well i would not go that far as to say feet first lol. I have some very educated knife collectors at my disposal during purchasing. I am wanting to do the leg work myself on the research end so i retain the information better for me. I am looking for suggestions in literature or websites. Thank You very much for your help though.
