BOWEN KNIFE

This 31/4" smooth wooden Stockman is marked Bowen Atlanta on the tang and main blade. Everything is tight and has half stops on all blades. The sheepsfoot is not quite as snappy as the others. It could have been made for any of a countless number of enterprises in the Bowen area, perhaps including the Chamber of Commerce.

Two questions: Can anyone identify the manufacturer and any thoughts on age?

Made by the Bowen Knife Co.in Waycross GA circa 1973 forward. I have a couple of their knives;a belt buckle and a scaled down replica of a Remington 1306 bullet knife.

His name was Michael Collins and he was not only a knife maker but a gun engraver and scrimshander.

According to this article from the Southwest Florida Knife Collectors Club at least part of the Bowen knives were made by Queen.
I would think the Stockman pattern was made by Queen. I used to have a Bowen stockman and it was a good little knife, solid with decent walk and talk.
This article dates Queens manufacturing of Bowen Knives to 1970s-1980s. I do remember seeing the belt buckle knives for sale by order in the 1980s when I was managing the cutlery store.

Willy I can out fog you easily. No so long ago someone posted a knife photo with a tape measure clearly showing its measurements. I promptly wrote: "What is the length of the knife?"
