Paladin, It seems remarkable to me that you remember the name of the man who sold you the knives from 1951.

I am not real sure why I remember that other than I was so completely in love with everything in that store. I mean I wanted at least one of all that wonderful surplus.

I bought this little USA Parker damascus pen knife from SMKW back in the late 80's early 90's. Carried it almost daily for well over 20 years - well before my current uber knife collecting phase. It's kind of cool to know that I'm personally responsible for every ding, dent and scratch on it. Lost the shield at some point and filled it in with epoxy putty with aluminum shavings in it...

Paladin, It seems remarkable to me that you remember the name of the man who sold you the knives from 1951.

I remember the person who sold me my first knife;it was Lloyd Allen who along with his family ran Allen's Hardware in Saugus Massachusetts.He was a friend of my grandfather and would not sell me the knife unless my grandfather came in and Ok'd the purchase.
Many years later I saw a post of his on a Saugus website and contacted him by e-mail.He was almost 100 years old at the time and although he did not remember me buying the knife,he remembered my grandfather very well and spoke of him in glowing terms.
