Before Carbon Fiber

One of my most unusual: An ultra light weight folder using electronic circuit board for scales.
Purchased new about 20 years ago, give or take, and added to collection. Not as strong as carbon, but strong enough to make a good working knife.

Definitely a unique knife! I have seen those before and always wanted one.I assume that all the solder joints were carefully smoothed off prior to installing them.
I have always liked the style of the Buck 110 series but didn't enjoy using one because of the heavy handle weight made it difficult(for me anyway)for prolonged use. Before the advent of the lightweight Zytel handles Buck offered a 110 style knife (model 186)that featured handles made of titanium. There were two models:one that could be dis-assembled to clean and another that did not. I bought the first style and carried it for some time before moving on to something else.
It came with a titanium pocket clip and a tool to dis-assemble it(which attached to the back side of the handle).I chose to leave the clip and the tool off and it worked very nicely for me.
They only made them for a couple years;I believe because of the price. A regular 110 at the time(mid-1980's)was about $26 whereas the Titan cost over $60.I think the non-disassembling model was a bit less but still pricey.Here is a pic of one next to a standard 110.

Nice Bucks. I knew they made titanium light weights, but didn’t know they made one that came apart to clean. CRKT put out a few recently that come apart. I like Bucks, and have many, but my favorites are those Camillus made for them. My EDC is a light weight AG Russell with lock tab on top and vg-10 steel blade. Weight is about an ounce and holds its edge exceptionally well. I think handles are gfn. Here is link to your 186 for sale.

Glenn had to shim it up with some plastic sheeting because it's some pretty thin stuff.

You would be amazed how strong that ckt board is. Most commonly used in printed circuit boards is a glass fiber reinforced (fiberglass) epoxy resin with a copper foil bonded on to one or both sides.

My Camillus seems very sturdy, and yes I’m surprised to learn how sturdy they are. I think that Camillus was the only company to use that material in a production knife. The re handle ones posted here, made by Glennbad, look awesome. I wish that this material catches on and we see more from different manufacturers.
Camillus, besides making a great traditional pocket knife, was very innovative.
