I've been gone for 6 days camping, good to be back and to view all the fine knives posted up by everyone. Some real beauties being shown as usual.
These two are in my pockets today, a #72 and a canoe.

I still love to carry a Barlow style most of the time, but for the past few days here is what I'm carrying. Nothing fancy or expensive, I just like the look and the way it feels in my hand and it has a very good edge on it.

Re: WHAT ARE YOU CARRYIN RIGHT NOW? WHAT IS YOUR FAV EDC?
The schrade 861 (and its old timer analog the 61OT) is an excellent stockman pattern. The handle is 4" and is sleek and slim. The blades are very precise and handy to use and the handle is very comfortable to hold due to the shape, length and the sunken joints. You can get a nice hand filling grip on this knife. When using the sheepsfoot blade the handle feels as if it has no other blades in it. Much more comfortable, if not more so, than most other three blade knives. The delrin handles are not pretty like the bone ones but is by far the most practical choice for a working knife. If I were to drop this knife, roll around on it while in my pocket and etcetera I do not have to worry about handle breakage. The pretty bone ones are much more enjoyable in my collection, whereas this one is better suited to be worked hard (not abused) without fretting. The bolsters are also pinned, schrade did not appear to have switched to swinden with this pattern even on the 61OT, of which I have seen evidence of pins. This makes the knife easier to tighten up if it gets loose.
When it comes to a practical, comfortable and highly useful stockman this is one of the best patterns I have ever used. It has great lines as well.

KSlinger I normally never even think about getting Delrin scaled knives. Your pitch got me thinking.
Nothing but good looking there geocash, like the colors on those. Sweet.

Thanks DM11. I was looking over your French Laguiolw, how do you like that? Good looking, graceful curves, nice wood. I heard the steel is soft too. How is it? Curious how a real world user would characterize it? Thanks again.

Both those are very nice looking knives geo. You have an awful lot of knives with some of the nicest bone color and jigging that I've seen.geocash wrote:Thanks, Steve. I think that Colonel Coon is about the prettiest knives I've got.Steve Warden wrote:A beauty of a CC!

Re: WHAT ARE YOU CARRYIN RIGHT NOW? WHAT IS YOUR FAV EDC?
I like this one. It is a Forge de Laguiole brand. I got it used off the bay. I really like the the feel of it in hand. One of the things I like about it is it has a lot of blade for the handle. The stainless blade takes and holds a decent edge. The overall quality is good on this one. Like all knives there are poor and good quality brands. From what little I know the Forge de Laguiole brand is a good one.Ivoryman wrote:Thanks DM11. I was looking over your French Laguiolw, how do you like that? Good looking, graceful curves, nice wood. I agree with everything you said about your Schrade 861, Paul, & thanks, Ivoryman. That bone on yours is just beautiful. The years have really added something too. And thanks, Greg. I hope you enjoy some of my knives as much as I do. Here's some more bone:

Re: WHAT ARE YOU CARRYIN RIGHT NOW? WHAT IS YOUR FAV EDC?
I almost lost my most used EDC today!
My disgusting old work knife, which I dearly love, slipped down between a bunch of chairs on a skid. I almost considered just shipping it because I simply couldn’t find the darn thing and the strapping and wrapping was almost done. In the end, i undid most of the straps, took it apart and finely found the dratted thing.
Seriously, I looked with a flashlight, shoved my hand in as far as I could and rooted around with an extendable magnet. I think it was hiding out in the Twilight Zone!
