Case Medium Stockmans

Gentlemen, (ladies)...I have a question...
Over the past two weeks, I've been on a "buying binge" for Case Medium Stockmans. I've purchased a red CV, a Pocket Worn Caribbean Blue,
an Amber Bone, and a Blue Bone...and I'm thinking of buying a few more.
For some reason, the size, shape and general appearance of this pattern
really appeals to me...it seems to be the "ideal" pocket knife!. These are
all new knives, 3 5/8", clip, sheepfoot and penblades. I was just wondering...does anyone out there find these particular knives as attractive as I do? To me, this is Case's most attractive knife...small enough to throw in your pocket...exceptionally well made...and just cool to look at. Am I crazy...or am I on to an area of "collecting " that I should stick with? You guys ( ladies) have much more experience than me...should I follow my instincts? I really like his style of knife, and would like to accumulate a good sized collection of them...plus, I'm carrying a red bone example now, that I use for everything from cutting boxes, string, twine, to using out in the yard whenever needed. Case seems to realize that this particular knife is popular...there's like a hundred variations available. Is this a good knife to steer the focus of my collection to? I think it is...opinions would be greatly appreciated...I think this is one of Case's most underrated, functional, attractive knives...what do you people think?

i too like the stockman patterns. i dont have many of them but appreciate the ones i do have. theres nothing wrong with your collection focusing on what ever brand of knives or patterns you like best.
heres my only two stockmans i have at the moment. one is a bigger stockman pattern 1979 case xx 6347hp and the other is 1984 case xx 63032 with the new grind blades. i dont have any 6318 patterns yet, but theres always tommorrow...lol.

I think the stockman pattern is interesting too. I have many of them from various makers, as well as Case. One of my favorite edc's happens to be a 3 1/4 inch Queen stockman with jigged delrin cherry handles. It's very similar to the old timer 340! Not sure what Case knife it would be similar to. Just enjoy using it.

My Humble opinion on this Case Stockman pattern is yes, they are a really good user knife for sure & the newer ones do come in a never ending color combination in bone handles! ....As far as a investment, the late 90's to 2006 you would probably have to sit on them for twenty to thirty years to see a rise in them as far as hobby market value goes unless they are handled in genuine Pearl or Stag (just being honest here) but, this same pattern (6318) in the years 1920 to 1940 (Case Tested), 1940 to 1964 (Case XX), 1965 to 1969 (Case XX USA) & the Case dotted years (70's) all show a very good rise in market values! ....My main interest is the Elephant Toe pattern but also have an eager interest to most older Case three blade Stockman patterns in bone, Stag & Pearl + am a lover of the Stockman patterns offered in the Case Classic program as well! ....Hope this helps you out some?

jabberwocky I myself collect Case Stockmans I lean more toward 47, 75 and 92 patterns. I do have a few of the smaller patterns but are special knives here are a few of my Stockmans

JW, it sounds to me like you are talking about the 63032 pattern. I too have been bitten by that bug. One of my all time favorites.

Pattern collecting is a very rewarding way to go IMO. With me it's mostly equal end cattleman knives. I say keep it going!
