Need help with Bulldog Sunfish handles

Post by Rustle47 »

This one looks like the top picture in the Trader's Price Guide vol 8 pg 71 (pg 86 in vol 7). It is tang stamped 1995. I'm especially wanting to know what the handles are made of. Pg 71 calls it deep grooved stag, but the texture is just too perfectly consistent. Could they be ::paranoid:: celluloid ? ::paranoid:: Also any other info would be appreciated - pg 71 is a little vague.

I would think it is bone, that knife although pictured is not listed in the book, appears to be bone wormgroove and IMO, should be worth more than a celluloid. I don't see that shield on a 1995 sunfish, it was on the baby sunfish, the one that Buzz designed. Perhaps this was put together in the 4th generation using 95 parts? In that picture is one with a clip blade, I don't know if Buzz's knife had a clip blade but they made some around 2003. ::shrug::
