Moore Maker Roper

Post by cody6268 »

Looks exactly like the old Camillus Medium Sierra. Did Moore Maker buy the toolings for the Medium Sierra when Camillus went out of business? Or is this new old stock? The blade has "2010" and I presume that's a date. Camillus closed in 2008.

Can’t answer your specific question, but I believe that pattern has been made for Moore Maker by Bear & Sons for several years. May have been made by Camillus before that. ::shrug:: Moore Maker owns the tooling for many patterns produced for them, so if Camillus did make them at one time, it’s possible they moved the tooling to another manufacturer.

When I visited the Moores in Matador, TX several years ago they told me they own the tooling for many of the knives they sell. Somewhere on the Moore Maker web site, IIRC there’s a FAQ section with some comments about that.

BTW I have that same knife except mine has a partially serrated blade. Date on it is 2005.

Edit: here ya go https://www.mooremaker.com/faqs.html. Scroll down to the second question. ::tu::
