Help with pearl restoration

cool old knife. i think the stanhope being damaged will affect the price as well. you can google "stanhope" and get a lot of info about them. i moved your post here so the repair guys will see it.

I am way behind in my in my backlog. I think for me it's the leather work that gets me slowed down to much. I should farm that out once I learn how not to be a control freak with my knives. Or I need to get a sewing machine, BUT I like using a 60% beeswax and 40% brewers pitch on the thread to do any stitching, it will never rot that way. I think that stuff will gum up a machine. Even though that's my slow point, it gives me a break.

I can do a tutorial with some expensive pearl, I like A+ grade from http://www.knifehandles.com because it's cheaper and has better color than presentation grade in general. They have a price chart for the different sizes also. I can also show how I drill holes in Pearl using a Dremel for those that need pins.

Though I prefer a CA adhesive with the pins. This way the pins aren't merely glued in. A Jewlers saw will cut Pearl, but I have an Inland lapidary band saw coming tommorrow (5-9). I have been buying some nice Picasso marble, dinosaur bone, Lapis, Agates, Jaspers and other stuff. I also have about 3 dozen (guessing) folders with exotic materials. Looks like Madagascar Ocean Jasper is going to be the most expensive.

Between breaks I sit and read and give my 2 cents. I have to get this years deer and elk hunters happy. Some knives are going out with A2, I think those will be the best skinners they ever had. I bought a bunch from Alpha Knife Supply, they had some 3/16 for the Elk hunters.

Give me about a week for the new stuff, and it's 84 degress at 7:30 AM, will be a record setting day today, I've never seen it this hot and muggy at 7:30 here. 84 is usually the high for the day, not the low for the night. We are in for it the next couple days, no AC in the shop. I use a Dremel to drill holes. I'll be shut down until this heat wave passes - Its going to greak records. 84 for the low, just 20-25 mile from the coast as the crow flies. 84 for the low, that's a record right there. Sweating in Santa Rosa early in the morning-Hukk. I think we are likely to have a black out today, my PC is going to be down most of today - this is nuts. Arizona weather

Weird, near 99 now and we have a 10 - 15 mph wind out of the E/NE, it NEVER comes from that direction, usually W/NW off the ocean. Must be a fire, I can hear the Borate Bombers.

we have the wind coming from the north east, and the southwest just now...hitting that mountain and doing a comeback...30-45 mph. thank god no one has started a fire...

We got a fire over in the Napa Valley, they may have hit it hard and fast. Tall grass, (4 to 6 feet, depending where you are) + wind, 100 temp and 15% humidty - BAD COMBINATION!

That is a baaaaad combo. We're cool and rainy, should be hot and pretty dry.

OK, give me time to set it up next week when it's cooler. I just checked and 10 minutes ago it was 103.7 F in the shop, and 17% Humidity on the hygrometer. Uh, NO, no shop time today - this is Spring, not Summer!
