Where Are All The Remington Knife Collectors?

The Remington Corporation and the knives that they built have influenced the U.S. cutlery industry more than nearly any other manufacturer. From the time America was settled, to the end of WWI, American knife companies struggled to compete with Britain and German imports, but events that occurred during and after the First World War led to a great change in this phenomenon. Unprecedented opportunities arose, and Remington stepped up to seize the moment. In the process, they created some of today's most prized collectables. In an ironic twist, the next World War played the greatest role in ending the company’s domination of the industry.

This beautiful 3 3/4" Remington R4733 dog groomer arrived from Kansas today thanks to Keith espn77. The bone on this example is really nice. For comparison, I included a Case XX 06245 DG that also has the Stevens blade etch. I am very confident the Case knife is a SFO (i.e., made for Case by another manufacturer). Maybe the Case and the Remington were both made by the same manufacturer? ::shrug::

Took many years to find one of these R971 Cotton Samplers. They have such an interesting blade shape!

Keith, super nice R7833. ::tu:: ::tu:: The Master Knife etch is very crisp. Does the shield have a pattern embossed on it? Or is it a reflection?

I love Remington die cuts and paper advertising. This piece came from a hardware store closing in Mankato Minnesota
It was in its original shipping cardboard and never opened

My main interest is mint Remington utility and scout knives and Remington pearl folders. Oregonjim

Mike. Great display. Wish I could get to your show again but it is a long trip to get there. I will be posting more stuff as I get familiar with this site and the folks on the Remington forum. You have probably seen most of my stuff over the years but it will be fun to post. May try to figure out how to sell on this site. Had a great okca show this year. Scout display did better than I expected with the Bowie displays which were great. Picked up a dead mint surveyor and junior rwb, and a couple rem scouts in the box.
