Ratcliffe and what I believe is a Bulldog or related medium stockman (dog tang stamps on all 3 blades w/ "BULL TERRIER" on secondary blade tangs, pile side of main tang stamped "PITT BULL" with the extra "T").

Think it's a 1945 year according to Charlie Compangna who looked it up for me in his encyclopedia because no one at the OKCA knew anything about it that we checked with. Thanks Charlie. Great knife.
Very cool Iman! The bone on that is right on.

What a great slicer the 43 is. And the orange camel bone has really cool color to it.

QS, I agree with you on most things until now but "lacking beauty" is the statement we make divergent ways on. ::handshake::

Thanks j1890, thanks Doglegg, appreciate it. geocash nice eye candy. Sunknife, right back atcha, I love the bones on that knife. QS, I like the scale color on that one, looks like 'ol mr. Rogers to me. Beautiful. This Met Cut Co is amazing. Can't find a crack anywhere with a loupe, and of course you know my Rogers bone policy and this is some of the better Rogers bone I have. The thing is perfect size, weight, great snap, tight, no wobble even, does have shallow dings in the edge so a new edge will have to be put on it. I'll grind that out on the bench grinder and sharpen it up, but that's minor and blades look about full so I can let it slide. Thirty smackers. I have to pinch myself. I feel like I stole it pretty much. Most satisfying buy I can recall in years, and for that slashed price I can't imagine ever getting a better knife from 75 years back in this shape. Thanks for comments again. Threw in a Norvell Shapleigh too for another thread.

I'm with doglegg, QS. That's a cool old Camillus. And Ivoryman, I see some beautiful new knives these days that are well-made, too, but you've got something that only comes with time.

doglegg and geocash, I have nothing but respect for your opinions. You already know all the cliches about beauty, e.g. "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder." etc. etc. etc. as Yul Brenner used to say. I will add a qualification. I think the Camillus has the practical beauty of being an effective, reliable tool. And as an E/O it is attractive to me. My comment referred only to its aesthetic, exterior, appearance. As to that, to each of us our own. I do appreciate your taking the time to share your views as they impelled me to think and clarify my own view.
