Old Hickory Stockman

Second try. I have an Old Hickory stockman. The main blade or largest blade does not have any tension on the backspring to keep it open or closed. It stays open and closed by the friction on the blade. I am wondering how to solve this problem without taking it apart and bending the spring. It has and OK on the blade and that is all the info on the blades. The handles have the name Old Hickory on it.

That knife was made by Queen...maybe they would repair it...

Thanks for the info. I thought the knife looked well made but I had no idea of who made it. The other two blades work fine. Just the large main blade doesn't work right.

Sounds like a broken backspring...that definitely should be a warranty repair.

The backspring isn't broken, the blade and backspring are not meshing together like they are supposed to. I don't think there is a warranty on this older knife? I've had it for ???ever. I don't even know how old it is? The large ss blade looks well used. Probably opened a lot and wore the blade/backspring area down? It is probably old enough to retire and take life easier now. Guess I'll let it retire and enjoy it's retirement.

In my experience, Queen will prett much repair at no cost any of their older knives no matter how old or what the problem is.
