E.C. Simmons?

Post by dlr110 »

I have two similar pruning knives, the first one has the Keen Kutter tang stamp for after 1985, presumed for use by whomever had the rights. The second one has a tang stamp that reads 1st line SIMMONS and 2nd line HARDWARE Co. Is this the same E.C. Simmons Hardware Co. that most of us are familiar with? The two knives are almost identical except the 2nd one has been used and sharpened much more.

Simmons Hardware is EC Simmons. Your 1st knife is much older than 1985.1940-60.

Thanks for responding. So do you think the Simmons Hardware one would have been before Simmons bought Walden or would this have been one of his less expensive line of knives. Also here is why I thought the 1st knife was after 1985. This is from an article: Keen Kutter Fakes and Reproductions, By Mark Chervenka

I have never seen a Shapleigh Keen Kutter tang stamped knife. They are just stamped Keen Kutter inside the keystone. That mark may have been used on boxes or something.
You don't see ebony handles on 1985 hawkbills.
