Busy day getting the pigs in the trailer for slaughter, and have a Volvo differential on the bench that needs built.
Johnny Stout drop point and a Tom Ploppert stockman. The drop point was made with a billet that Devin Thomas forged for me, Hoss's high contrast bubblwrap with a CruForge V core. Devin recently decided to retire from forging, he has been doing it since the 80's and has pioneered pattern welding steel. Devin's son, Larrin, has a PhD in Metallurgy.

It is a 493, made in Solingen GE, I've owned it 12 - 15 years (not sure exactly when, but I bought it at a gunshow). I believe yours was made in the USA. OHr redden wrote:Is that Boker a model 493 if so that's an exceptional knife. I have a true mint 493 it's still sealed in the original blister pack. I believe it to be from the 60's as it has no bar code on the package.Old Hunter wrote:Thank you. If it’s not too late you may want to consider again - nice action and well made. Here's a picture of it next to a 494 the one with a sheepsfoot main. Again these are great knives sorry for the glare.

Sunday's carry is my stainless Ratcliffe and an HSB one-armed man. Dr. Lansky does great work, I see myself acquiring more user rats just to have him work his magic. I usually have a one-handed opener on me as well, so today I'm doing it the old-school way.
Caught the two spots of bolster rust in the photo, so I blasted them with a construction pencil and polished up the metal with some Simichrome. Looking good now for a liverspotted old man.

Yesir. That's the one Greg so graciously gifted me. The first gen stays put. I love to carry the 2nd gen. What beautiful bone it has as well as the first gen. Thanks for your comment.doglegg wrote:Hey Woodwalker is that a 2nd gen 72? Carries knice.woodwalker wrote:Carried this one today.![]()

Swapped out the old school OHO for the new school while parkin' it on the patio with a book and a boombox (or the modern version thereof - a phone and a bluetooth speaker).

Just fabulous MadH, the colors, the glass, the shaddows, the glow of the knife. Wow that is portrait quality and then some.
