This is very sad news to hear and the only thing that makes me smile is how much Bill touched not only me but evidently the world around him. Brett thank you for taking the time to say hello to us in your time of need, your father will be missed but not forgotten.

Re: Very Sad News To Share Re: Bill Wolfe (El Lobo)
I find this very difficult to post however it is a duty needed since to be remiss would truly be a sin. I always refered to Bill as woofer it was an inside joke. He was instrumental in beginning the knife lore forum to a great extent for me. I had excommunicated myself from another forum for personal reasons and he was one of the people who encouraged me to keep posting and gave me a place to do so. I sorely and truly from my very soul will miss him. To his family I am at your service should there be of anything which I might assist with to make this time any easier please so advise. You have my greatest and deepest condolences . Woofer and I had talked of the past and reminised, as recent as a few weeks ago we were both quoting lines from an old Statler bros song. The class of 57 had its dreams. Neither of us were old enough to have been in that class but we were old enough to remember the lyrics. I hate funerals and eulogys mainly because they do no good for those who pass so what is the sense? They say it brings solace perhapes. Beside I am tired of parting with so many who were so much more noble and worthy than myself. Bill was that type of person. Bill and I had discussed this very subject he with an open positive inciteful understanding and tolerance ( so like him ) while I with my usual jaundiced, predjudiced , violent, hateful , anti anything positive, self pitying cry baby attitude proclaimed my usual rhetoric. Bill always chided me trying to steer me in a better direction. I guess he was closer to the light than I was even then.
My last communication with him was an email a few weeks ago. I remember I concluded it with the line To the pure life amigo. He wrote back and said you, me, the duke and a bottle of crown to the pure life. Tomorrow at 8 PM EST I will say my final goodbye to my friend I will crack open a bottle and have a toast to my fallen comrade and then perhapes another to all of the myriad of better men than myself who have been called and for reasons far beyond my ability to understand have left me behind to remember there kindness and valor. Tomorrow at 8 for the woofer. Your do not have to be here or even imbibe all you have to do is just take a moment to remember.
So long my friend To the pure life. IN SADNESS YOUR FRIEND LT

BILL or mostly know as (El Lobo):; Brett;
I want to take this time to thank your family for sharing a piece of his life with me and all the people at AAPK. Brett as you can see Bill touched many lives. His love and knowledge he gave to others here on earth and in cyberspace will be one that we all will miss, but not be forgotten. For me it’s hard to put in words my feelings at this time. Dieing is so sad. We all will have to do this some day ourselves. The JOY in the life here after is all unknown to us here left on earth. I am sure El Lobo is telling the ones around him now things about knives here on earth. I want to say thank El Lobo for all the kind words you gave me here at AAPK. With a tear in my eye,
good-by for now and I hope to talk to you some day again...

Becky,Brett, and Brandi Wolfe and all knifers every where:
Our community is poorer indeed with the loss of our friend Bill. I also met Bill in 2005. He was instrumental in helping me with the first knife question I had, he single handedly took me into blade forums and posted photos for me till I understood the procedure. There were times that we would not correspond for some weeks and then either he would send me or vice a versa a small inconsequential knife or gag and the other would reciprocate. I truly believe he took great joy on our quest for the Sandbar Stag and I now never will be able to try his infamous Scorpion stew. A great person who will be missed by one and all. Bill, when you get inside the pearly gates take a good look for the Stag and if you find him give him the boot for me. God Bless You.
This is written with a heavily weighted Heart and Eyes that can hardly see through the sadness.

I know it has been some time since I have made regular posts, but I do make a point to read up on the news here.
This is sad news indeed, and have shared discussions on here with El Lobo in the past. It is a loss to the AAPK community, but we all know Bill is in a better place.
Rest in Peace Bill!

Re: Very Sad News To Share Re: Bill Wolfe (El Lobo)
Earlier today I was thinking and remembering Bill's posts. From the days in the old Schrade forum to here not long ago, I remember knives, ping-pong balls, old socks and scorpion stew, I remember fine people, the "lost souls of uncle Henry", I remember good and bad things that happened these past years.
I never met Bill in person but he once told me that if I ever visited him we could have some Crown Royal and a cigar.
I read LT's post, then at 7 CST I poured myself a glass of Crown and lit up a cigar, I was alone at home and it was kind of a mystic moment, it's strange how I can feel about people so far away but communicating through a forum, I wish we could all have been together in person and make a toast to Bill's memory, I guess this forum is the next best thing.

Re: Very Sad News To Share Re: Bill Wolfe (El Lobo)
Bill was one of the first people I encountered regularly on AAPK when I first got interested in knife collecting. I'd say Bill had some impact on my becoming really interested in this hobby. I learned a lot from him, and I always looked up to him. He was clearly a gentleman in every sense of the word, in addition to being intelliegent, witty, and generous. I have a few knives that I obtained from him in sales and trades and I'll now treasure these as momentos of the man. God speed, El Lobo.

I will surely miss Bill and his posts here
. Even in East "Tenn-Nah-See".......we did play our game. And we will play again, but he knows I will not cut him any slack next time.
I have had to drink enough corn so far this year, believe I will just plant a row for him today.

Hello Everyone,
Once again, I don't know how to convey enough my thanks for everything said on this forum. We are reading and re-reading these posts over and over with smiles on our faces and gratitude in our hearts.
I plan to print these posts, and have a small book at the memorial service where some of our friends from other walks of life will get a chance to see how my dad touched the lives of people from all over. I hope none of you mind if I do this, as I feel he is proud of the friends he made here and would be honored that your words of kindness, humor and love would be shared.
For those who are curious, the Memorial is Saturday May 17th at 2pm at Hansen Desert Hills Mortuary 6500 E. Bell Rd. Scottsdale AZ 85254.
Once again, thank you so much!

Re: Very Sad News To Share Re: Bill Wolfe (El Lobo)
I know I speak for many of the other members when I say I wish I could be there for the memorial service. Unfortunately too much distance separates most of us, but we do enjoy a close-knit community here on line. Bill was an important part of that community. He is already missed and will definitely be missed in the days to come.
Your family was blessed to have Bill as your father & grandfather. We were certainly privileged to have him as a friend.
God bless you all,
Dale Vincent
