Another #45
The 1st time I saw a #45 Queen a few years back, I thought they were ugly and I haven't changed my mind. Ugly but unique in their construction, they kinda' got my attention. The one I got yesterday would have been perfect had someone not allowed the blade to snap shut on the bail several times. It is apparently has a factory edge, perfect etch and no dings on the aluminum body. This is my 5th one and I have yet to carry one as an EDC.

From 0 to 5 in just few short years. I'd say you're hooked. I like those, a very unique looking knife. Good quality too. Nicely done!!

Well Philip with me you are preaching to the choir. Love them, I carried one in High School (yes they had them way back then). I recently got one brand new in the box. They are kinda like the glock of pocket knives, ugly but reliable. Congrats on your new one.

Here's the 5 #45s that I now have:
The knife on the bottom has a '55-'57 tang stamp with PAT. PENDING stamped on the pile side. The other 4 knives all have PAT. NO. 2728139 on the mark side, nothing on the pile side. I just realized the bottom knife has a factory edge. The ones with the patent number all have the blade etch showing to some degree. Notice too, the nail nicks are not all the same position. 
So I just Googled patent number 2728139 and found a history of this knife. The inventor was Eric C. Erickson, Titusville, Pa. He filed the patent on 8/21/1953, the patent was granted on 12/27/1955. Queen Cutlery Company is mentioned in the legal mumbo jumbo. The drawings show the original knife only has 4 parts as do all mine except for the one with the bail it has 5 parts. Soooo..... apparently the bottom knife is one of the 1st ones made before the patent was granted.
