Case xx 6380 stag?
Any info on this knife? It's a 6380 case xx but has stag handles. It's a 1971. Maybe a "lunch box knife", or something else? Any thoughts? Absolutely beautiful handles. Looks legit but Case didn't make this knife in stag.

You’re right, as far as I know Case never made the 80 pattern whittler in stag. I suspect it’s been re-handled. Better pictures would help.

Maybe it was a former red bone.

Now that you posted some better pictures I’m more certain it’s a rehandle. Pins don’t look like they were spun. Looks like the shield is on crooked too - don’t believe that was done at the factory.

I totally agree someone has put those stag covers on that knife no way that shield would have gotten past QC.

Prior to the 1980's, Case never made the 80 whittler pattern in stag. In the 80's, a few were made in stag with SS blades as limited runs.
The 80 pattern is commonly seen faked and also rehandled like this one. A lot of the 6380's were made in Delrin in the 70's so most likely knife mechanics take those and rehandle them in stag.

I have a Case Stag 5380 Carpenter's Whittler. It was part of a three knife Case Whittler Set. The other two knives were/are a Stag 5308 and a Stag 5383. All three have gold filled scrolling on the bolsters. The set was housed in a nice - and unique - display.
