I have that shield on a Colonial, but I also have a very similar knife with no marking. Here they are. (Also in the Pairs thread)
I guess you could start looking into Colonial Prov. USA as a first step

I had thought only Robeson and Platts made this pattern with the swell center.

ZooGirl, this post was entirely tongue-in-cheek.
The knife was made by Robeson, my obsessive brand.
I have no idea why the seller cannot ID the tang stamps. Might have been unstamped and etched with some advertising or political logo, instead.
As far as I know, Robeson was the only company to manufacture an Elephant's Toe with two backsprings. The master blade rides on both springs and the secondary pen blade on one.
And the bone handles on the knife are simply screaming "ROBESON!!!" to me, although Cattaraugus did use a very similar product for a time.
Not a bad knife actually. Somebody might get themselves a bargain buy.
