Hi:
Just possible you may have a good one. Sure would be nice to see a full straight on profile of all four sides and butt end. Maybe some close ups of handle, joints, rivets and any marks also both sides of blade. Off hand it possibly has the looks of an early bowie hunter. I don't know about the cut of the tang or the abrupt clip but I am no expert. Ought to be worth at least two piles of scrap iron.

edit; why don't you put a ruler or something else in photo to give some idea of dimensions.

Hi:
Thanks, it's just a wag on my part but I would opine 1915-1930 bowie hunter. Really nice knife.

Re: J.A. Henckles
thanks mossdancer...the fellow was using it to scrape gaskets in his harley shop....duh. here i am supposed to be oggling the bikes...and i walk directly to that knife...ok...how much...
the fit is wonderful on the blade...no loose scales... handguard tight...some losse to the edge, i am making a scabbard for it now...leather and silver...we'll see how that works out.

Re: J.A. Henckles
you bet that pistol is unloaded...who could afford the rounds? who would pull the trigger on a sorry old saloon gun...41 caliber rimfire smoker. mossdancer said put the knife next to something for reference...
the serial number on that pistol is the same as the last four of my ssn...i sold a pile of my ex's navajo jewelry on tuesday... she gave me that for the hussle...i am planning on mounting it in a shadow box...the pearl handles are to die for...too bad they are chipped up...

Re: J.A. Henckles
Possibly a hundred or so. The pistol for those who only needed one little shot.
