Charlie, Is it just the picture or is that knife more blue than turquoise? Yours looks very different from the promo photos. I haven’t ordered mine yet. This might change my mind about getting one if it’s more blue than turquoise.

Mark,
The picture has something to do with it. Depending on how the light hits it the green shows more making it closer to turquoise. It is almost iridescent. Having said that, it is darker than I expected. Natural materials like wood, bone, stag, etc take the dyes used in a not completely uniform way and the end product will vary. That's one of the draw backs to ordering by mail....you don't get to pick the individual knife you will receive. If you are intent on getting one that closely resembles the one pictured in the ads I would suggest buying in person at a master dealer so you can pick the one you want. I have seen this canoe on ebay already and some of the vendors list "the knife pictured is the exact knife you will receive" as part of their sales info so you might find one that suits you there. Hope this helps.

Hey Charlie, I went ahead and got the Turquoise Curly Maple. I love this! It’s got the ooh and aah factor. Also got a Barlow in this handle material, but I won’t dilute this thread w/ those pics.
Glad I didn’t pass on this one.

Beautiful SSK! ::tu::

Yours has much better grain than the one I got. I think the grain of the wood has a great deal to do with how the final product turns out, as well.

Frank Buster's Fightn' Rooster has made some fine canoes. Some of them, like the one mentioned, aren't completely traditional. Well made and of the quality you would expect from old school Solingen cutlers. I've been watching the one pointed out on ebay.

Charlie, is that a limited production? That one just screams to be in the center of a display case.

Nice.
I don't think it was limited production per se but it was made in 2007 and not continued in 2008 to the best of my knowledge. So it is limited in that respect. They also made a Baby Butterbean (pictured below), which I've had for some time, also in 2007.

Thanks QS.

I've had the butterbean since 2009 but I couldn't find a mint canoe. I finally ran across one at Case Knife Outlet in AL. They still have a few in stock, mint in the box.

To quote a cliche, a series of unfortunate events. Repairs and replacements one after another. Kept me busy for a while.

Yup, life. No way around it, one way or other.
Me for example,
1 week before Christmas 2014 i came down with something, a lot of pain in my wrists. Quit homeschool, saw a ton of doctors and then some, in the long run turns out i have, since then, Fibromyalgia, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, ME, Irritable Bowl Syndrome, Anxiety, ect. Looks like the rest of my life. What can you do? On SAID (Saskatchewan Disability Income), help dad a bit on the farm, tinker around the yard for awhile, ride my bike when i can, play a little guitar everyday, and Praise Our Savoir, Lord Jesus Christ! ::ds:: :D
Oh, and not to mention dangerous levels of depression, almost committed suicide back 2 years ago.
Tough haul for sure. But i have my loving family around me, which i am so blessed with. Really, fully, totally, Born Again Christian. Have my struggles, like anyone, and my down days. But all i can do is turn to our Savoir and pray. Works every time! No questions asked! No problemo'! :D ::ds::
Well that went a little nuts! And pile on fibro fog into the mix ::uc::
You got when heck of a concoction!
::stir:: ::stir:: ::stir::
::sotb::
:lol:
Have to have something to laugh about!
Well nuff for now. Hope i didn't boor ya ::paranoid::
::woot::

Fortunately mine was all mechanical, home repairs, auto repairs, appliance replacements one right after the other. As fast as I fixed one something else would demand my attention. It kept me hopping and tied up a lot of my money so I wasn't acquiring new knives or taking any pics. Then as things were settling down, of course, the computer started acting up! Well, I've got everything done and now I'm back to being retired. :lol:

Sorry to hear of your troubles. Sounds like you have the right attitude, trust in the Lord. My Grandma used to say that you can't prey AND worry, if you put it in the Lord's hands there's no need to worry. ::tu::
