Doc B, what a fine looking levergun that is.

i was asked what ammo-box this is but have no idea.
Can anyone help please?
Its about 10x7x6"

Does it have any markings besides CAL 45? It was likely for good ol .45 auto hardball, unless it was for the preceding M1887 .45 cartridges for the colt 1873 and s&w schofield.

Haven't shot this yet. Finally succumbed to the buzz on these. Seems to be well liked by the U-tube shooters for the most part. We'll see. It;s a Taurus PT 111 G2, 9 mm, 12+1. Holds well in my hand, sights seem OK and are W & E adjustable. Anyone else grab one of these up? If so, what do you think of them?

Steve, I haven't had or fired one, but, have been helping a friend at his shop some. Seems to be more of these sold than some others. They seem to fit most everyone's hands well. Hope you enjoy it.

Thanks for the comments guys, keep them coming. I tried chambering a cast bullet handload I have a few hundred of and it choked on those, it wouldn't lock up. The cases may have been a little fat by the looks of them. The ball rounds I have chambered fine, no surprise there. Need to get to the range and shoot a few hundred and see what we have.

Back during the "can't get ammo" crisis.... (i.e. the obama years).... I bought a BUNCH of cast lead bullets and loaded around 1000 to 1500 45 autos and close to that many 40s..... NONE of them would camber. I even bought some cartridges reloaded by the "experts" with cast lead bullets and they SUCKED too.
It's like they would start to ramp and "bounce" or something. They would hit the top of the chamber and stick there. I couldn't get any trick concerning lead bullets to work.

I polished the ramps real nice so they would run the ramp better...... didn't help.
I even went to the reloading guru's and they gave me the exact specs for lead bullets in each cartridge concerning OAL and everything.....
NO HELP.....

I took all that crap over to my bro-in-law and he pulled every one of 'em for me.

I will NEVER load another case lead bullet in an auto round..... brass jackets ONLY.
Cast lead bullets are for revolvers!!

Anyway.... that is my experience with the cast bullets......

I've had similar experiences with 45 cast lead and the 9 mm. Lead is "stickier" that a copper jacket or gilding metal so the nose of the bullet doesn't want to slide up the ramp. Bullet nose shape has much to do with this too. The 45 semi wad cutters were a biotch but finally got some consistency from them.

I was trying to use round nose bullets.

I figured..... SURELY... this was what the original 1911's were designed for. I guess they must have been designed for round nose JACKETED....

Had a similar issue with my Ruger LC9s and the polymer-tipped
self defense rounds from Hornady ... things wouldn't feed at all !

I’ve had the same experience with the Hornady Critical Duty in my 1911. They’ll chamber fine the first couple of times, but if you cary them in the mag for a while the polymer tip seems to grab onto all kinds of gunk. Then they stop feeding. I love the way they shoot and expand, but I don’t trust them. Regular ol hollow points for me.

I’ve had the same experience with the Hornady Critical Duty in my 1911.

That's the ones. Brand new out of the box the tip would grab the feed ramp.
I could smack the back of the slide and the things would not feed!
Switched to Federal Premium Hydra-Shok ... problem solved. In my 9mm and the .40

I really love the old west look. Next I'll start saving my pennies for an SAA revolver. Suggestions for a model in .22 or .38 caliber that won't break the bank? Gotta have that old Colt Peacemaker look to it, though.

I've had a Ruger Single-Six with the interchangeable cylinder for .22 Mag. since the late '60s. It's a great piece of iron. She's more accurate than you are.

I almost traded for one of those last year. I let $75 stand in the way. I wish now I hadn’t.

I went out and fired a few rounds through this 1949 Ithaca 37 12 gauge a few minutes ago. It’s kind of unique. It has a solid rib 30 inch barrel, and it’s choked modified. That’s not a real common combination. Pretty wood too.

Love my Old Henry .22. I let people shoot a lot of different things, down at the ranch...but people always end up saying..."I really like that .22".

..........steve, that's the first henry I bought, 5 years ago, and I love it!!,right after I bought it, I fell in love with the little carbine version with the shorter barrel and JOHN WAYNE lever!!!...and not long after I got it they came out with the "original"-reproduction(.44-40) of the civil war gun, and that's the one I really love to shoot!!.. as far as I'm concerned, you can't beat a HENRY!!!!!............. .........
