A couple of the Colonel's Coons

Just got a couple of the 3 1/2" Colonel Coon Stag Congresses. I believe they were made around the mid eighties. Great looking, fat stag and the pictures don't do them justice. These knives were pricey, but worth it. They don't have any file work to the backsprings and I believe they were benchmade but I could be wrong. I don't anticipate selling these anytime soon, but if I do, YEROUT will get first shot at them.

Ray, That's a beauty! These knives are so hard to find it's unreal. I have gotten several e-mails from people asking me to consider selling them, but I still want to hang on to them for a while. Yours must be the 4" Congress and I plan on buying as many of these as I can afford. They're expensive, but really have some greatest looking stag scales ever put on a knife.

Gunsmoke47, as far as I know Ben Wells did the file work on the Stockman, To the best of my knowledge he did most of the file work on the Colonel Coon Knives he was the shop foreman for Adrain Harris at Tennessee Knife Works, I also have attached a pic of a medium congress bearing his tang stamp B WELLS, COL. TN........Sorry about the poor quality of my pics.

Here is a smooth bone congress and a pearl Barlow with file work. The blade etching on the Barlow is much deeper than on others I've seen and the blades have a mirror finish that I hadn't seen before.

Camillus made parts for the Col. Coon knives. Adrian Harris owned this brand and came to Camillus once a year to order parts. I believe Colonial also made parts for Mr. Harris.
I always looked forward to Mr. Harris' visits. We would talk about knives and he would show some new ideas that he was developing.

I have some questions and some pictures.
Are the CC's without blade etching earlier than those with?
When were shields 1st used. The 1st Mule Day with a shield was in 82.
Would yerout please post pictures of some more of his knives and maybe replace the photos in the article section?
None of the stag handled CC's I am fortunate to possess has anywhere near the amazing quality stag that started this thread. Most of mine were smoothed a lot. Are the ones posted by F Jim later? I'm jealous of course but I know what he paid for them also.
