Need help on a Standard Knife Company knife

Post by Delmar Morgan »

I pick this up today , it is just stamped Standard Knife Co. and that's all. Is it a 1901 - 1903 Case Brothers or is it made by W. R. Case & Sons. Thanks for any info. Delmar

Well Delmar, I was hoping somebody that really knows for sure would answer, but with 42 views so far and no replies, I guess I’ll give you my somewhat educated guess. I believe it’s the later Standard Knife. Here’s my reasoning FWIW.

1. The earlier ones from 1900-1903 are very rare and are generally the same patterns as Case Brothers, who made most of them.
2. The later ones are typically less expensive versions of Case Tested patterns. Yours having no metal shield fits that description.

I could be wrong.

Thanks guys , all I know it had me scratching my head , because it didn't have Little Valley , NY or Bradford , PA stamped on it just Standard Knife Co. . The only Case Brother I ever saw was one last year that a guy bought and it was a big 4 blade congress slightly used. The guy that bought was about to do kart wheels. I over heard a guy asked him if it was a real one , he said yes it was , he said he had several ones.
