For Sale: Moore Maker Stag Jumbo Trapper
I did have a nice little Moore Maker collection but sold them all except for this one which is such a 'stand out' i was not able to let it go.
4 1/2" MM pattern: 6206LL with year date: 2007, made by Queen using dies owned by Moore Maker (i.e. Queen does not make this pattern except for MM).
Liner lock on master blade, half stops on both blades, no play, firm but reasonable pull with crisp snaps.
Flush & square joints (like the Remington # 23 pattern (& GEC 23 as well)
I am not a fan of 'fat stag". This knife has fairly fat stag and i like it very much: suits the knife visually and feels absolutely great in hand, the kind you don't want to put down.
I bought this directly from the boys in Matador Texas in 2007. It has been stored in my safe and never used.
Price: $150 shipped.
If interested please send me a PM or email: [email protected]
thanks, kj

kj, I can see why you kept this for last, that is gorgeous. Didn’t know Moore Maker ever made anything this nice. It should sell in no time.kootenay joe wrote:I did have a nice little Moore Maker collection but sold them all except for this one which is such a 'stand out' i was not able to let it go.

That one was made for Moore Maker by Queen. Don’t sell them short - Moore Maker has done a lot of nice knives.

Moore Maker does not manufacture any knives. They have knives made for them of patterns that are unique to Moore Maker. Used to be Queen made the Stag & bone ones and Camillus made the horn & synthetic handled knives. Now with both Queen & Camillus gone i don't know who makes knives for them. This knife was made in 2007, has stag, so made by Queen.

Since it has sold I'll put my 2 cents in.
I've had several of the Moore Maker Trappers and have never been satisfied with the fit and finish of them. I have Ka-bar's that are over the top quality wise compared to the MM that were made by Queen and I'm not sure why the difference. Won't buy anymore.

Re: For Sale: Moore Maker Stag Jumbo Trapper
My experience has been different. I have owned maybe 10 Queen made Moore Maker folding knives, all bought on line so not hand selected. There were no 'issues' with any of them. Many of my Queen branded knives made around the same time did have some aspect that was not quite right.
I still have one Queen made Moore Maker, a frequent user, a 3 3/4", 5 blade sowbelly with smooth yellow bone, pattern 5503 made in 1999. It's a GREAT knife !

My experience has been different also. In fact quite the opposite. I have several Moore Makers in different patterns in various handle covers, including whittlers, stockmans, a sowbelly, a double lock back, and a couple of others. They’re all of excellent quality, fit and finish.
Up until a few years ago most of their knives were made by Queen or Bear & Sons. They phased out Queen several years ago but still have some old stock. I believe most nowadays are from Utica or Bear & Sons. I recently saw a pattern from a German Maker on the Moore Maker web site. Moore Maker has their own specifications for knives, their own QC, and in many cases they own the tooling. So a knife you get from a Moore Maker may not be representative of other knives from those manufacturers - it’s probably better. JMO.
Some Moore Maker cosmetic “seconds” can be found for sale on eBay - I don’t know if those are rejects from Moore Maker themselves or if they came from the manufacturer. IMHO selling them is a mistake as once they get into the marketplace they can be represented/mistaken as representative of Moore Maker products, when in fact they are seconds. Again, JMO.

I agree. Speaking to pre-2010, which are the only ones I've been around. Great knives. Every Gebos, tractor supply, hardware store carries them in texas. Possibly the most popular factory made knife sold in texas.
Edit. At least in the panhandle. Are they popular where you live Ken?
