Knife Magazine

Post by Mumbleypeg »

Just got the March 2019 issue of knife Magazine today - it’s a home run. Great article by Brad Wood, After the Storm - The Untold Story of Kinfolks, with newly discovered information regarding the founding and early years of Kinfolks. Plus an interesting article about the “Moon Knife” that Case made for the NASA Apollo program, and coverage of the new stuff announced at the recent SHOT Show. ::tu:: ::tu::

Dang, mine hasn't arrived yet, and I have to drive to PA for the Keystone Blade Association show today before the mail arrives. A few of the Kinfolks knives and the Antarctic Special are ex my collection, be nice to see them in print.

I really liked that Magazine when they delivered it in Newspaper Form - I subscribed to it and received just about 12 to 15 issues when they went and started that over-sized glossy New School design - I was stricken with sadness - ::doh::

And some very nice examples they are too. I think it’s fairly well known that Kinfolks made fixed blades for Case and Cattaraugus, and the Kinfolks brand. But the list of the other brand names they produced knives for on contract was new to me, as was the KIN-FOE brand - I’ve never seen one previously.

BTW, I like the new format a lot better, especially all the improvements to photography enabled by the slick-paper printing versus the old newsprint format. ::tu::

I will be looking for my Knife Magazine, sound like good articles. ::tu::
I also prefer the new format, more content, color, pictures and it is far easier to store them in the new format.

I think the newspaper design was in color just newspaper form was the only change......a true treasure trove of information in them that for sure it is one good Newspaper/Magazine - I enjoyed receiving it and reading it very much some very cool stuff - towers over most other reads in pocket knives and companies by far - very cool articles anyone that hasn't got a subscription is missing out that is for sure -

Great article that condenses much of the research work that Brad has done on Case fixed blade knives. Brad is the go-to guy for Case fixed blades. He has been most giving with his work and a resource for me in Case or Kinfolks made fixed blades. Congratulations to him and great respect for all his hard work for the knife collecting community!
If I have seen further it is by standing on the shoulders of giants.

Got home from the Lewisburg show yesterday to find my issue in the mail box. Six of the pictured knives are from my collection and among quite a few I have sold Brad over the years. I sure hope this info being in print ends all the silly ideas about the KIN-FOE and Marion Line knives.
