Virginia Game Wardens Assoc.
This Trapper is part of a set of knives given each year to the Virginia Game Wardens or sold as a fundraiser. They usually limited them to 500 or less. I have seen several of them all made by different makers. If you have any of them post a pic here.

Rocky, I followed some VA Game Warden Assoc. Buck 312 special issues on e-bay a few months ago, came in a nice, wooden display box - they are out there. OH

Checking one out on flee bay now. Seven bids thus far and sitting at about $50.00. How much are these knives worth? We'll see about bidding, got couple days left to go on her.

It will depend on the maker of each knife.ROCKY1122 wrote:Checking one out on flee bay now. Seven bids thus far and sitting at about $50.00. How much are these knives worth? We'll see about bidding, got couple days left to go on her.

This one is made by CASE and is a Case XX and I believe it was made in 1986.

THE KNIFE ON FLEE BAY WENT FOR $114.00 WHICH WAS ALOT MORE THAN WAS WILLING TO PAY! ARE THEY REALLY WORTH THAT MUCH OR JUST A CRAZY BIDDING FREENZY?

They are usually issued in very limited numbers, which make them quite rare. The modern ones may not be worth much more than unmarked ones, but the older ones certainly are. The wardens actually used them, which means there are fewer mint or near-mint ones around. And they weren't usually sold to collectors.
They also have better handle materials than normal factory issue, plus the etches and special shields. But I own two of them, so I'm a little biased.

Thanks for the info, if I had known all that you have shared I might have been a little more aggressive in my bidding. Maybe on the next one! Thanks for sharing!

I received this dozen VA game warden knives from an uncle a couple years ago. Dated from 1983 to the late 1990’s. Some years missing. I mounted them is this shawdow box myself, which weighs 13 pounds.
