Very cool photos posted so far. I have a large number of bird photos but most of mine are kind blurry because the bird somehow knew to fly precisely as I depressed the button. Here is a eagle shot that I liked.

These are re-posts but somehow I think they are worthy. They were taken by my friend Mark Nagel, RIP old buddy. The eagle shots are from a rare nesting pair between Burnet, Tx and Llano, Tx.

Last summer I was waiting in my car for my fishing pal and took this series of pictures.
A picture of the entire bird wasn't working so I went for a close up.

Thanks for the kind words! Ray, Lee, and Joe. Here is a Barred Owl that I photographed last spring. I am pretty sure I posted it before, but here goes again. My camera was not fast enough to freeze the action, but I like the way the owl looks with those powerful legs in action.

Mel - That owl taking off from his perch is very cool - Amazing birds to watch flying through a forest and how they navigate through the trees - almost looks like something out of a special effects movie ...

The Caracara...about the size of a vulture...is a neat looking bird...

Great pic Doc B, on occasion one will be spotted as far north as the DFW area, I've never been fortunate to spot one though.

Two pictures of Sparrows on a very windy day as I recall.

I don't know what kind of bird the little red capped guy is. He doesn't look happy to see me.

Several years ago, while I was still working, these two little kestrels hung around the back lot and material yard for about a week. They appeared to be very young. I was lucky enough to get these photos of them one morning. I didn't realize that the one had caught and was eating a snake until I saw the pics on my computer.

Then every year...these guys show up about this time. I have no idea, where they go, the rest of the year. I swear they must hiberate, in caves, after the spring. I didn't see any turkeys, the first few years I had my property...then they've been coming the last 4-5 years. I pretty much leave them alone and give them "sanctuary" here. I shot one, many years ago, at Camp Bullis...I thought I had a monster bird...by the time he was plucked, I had a big chicken. The breast meat was good; but, the legs were so tough as to be barely edible.

Neat eagle photo Phil. It recalled to mind when, years ago, I was visiting some property on the coast of Maine and I was trying to decide whether or not to purchase it. I looked up and saw my first Bald Eagle flying directly over not much more than 50' above me. Took it as a favorable sign, made the purchase. Turned out to be a good decision.

Been watching a local Eagle nest on a tree cam.. They have 3 eggs they have been sitting on.. Hoping all 3 hatch as last yr the tree the nest was in got blown down and all eggs were lost!! Kinda cool watching and waiting..
