I can certainly see why your Henckels Barlow is a favorite - nice bone color! OH

Thanks, OH. It feels, at least to me, to be well-made, too.

Thought I'd carry one of my favorite Barlows. I don't know much about it but I reckon it was made in 1963 or before & I'm pretty sure it was well-made. But when I got it I dropped it, just one time, & you can see a little chip of bone is missing under the pin on the left. Sure, it bothers me but then I'm missing more chips than my knife.

Love that bone on the Barlow geocash. Love sawcut anyway, but the color is great too.

kj, my knife is by David Boye. The blade is made of the dendritic cobalt steel he developed. Besides maintaining superb sharpness, it is rust proof; literally it cannot rust from even salt water. I will likley sharpen it soon. This will be the first time it will be sharpened after about 7 years of light to moderate use.

Greg,

That's a sharp pen knife but I can't quite make out the tang stamp.

I thought I might just carry another favorite Barlow. You can see some deep pitting on the steel bolster but most of the corrosion that came with it polished off of the blades & bolsters. The blades are tight, the springs are strong, the bone is good & it was made in the USA. I think Queen made the toothpick.

Greg,

Thanks geocash. Tang is stamped: Solingen Cutlery/B. Svoboda/ Germany
The shield and pattern look like a match to a larger Klaas whittler I have though.
