Beautiful pics Roofsc. Lovely place.
One last chance to hunt this morning before season closes. My son and I hit some flooded timber before his school day started.
Got dive bombed by woodies. Had a great time!!

Walked out the door to this sight this morning. While not overly fond of snow, I must admit that it does offer some beautiful scenes to enjoy.

Saw this Roadrunner hunting in the orchard this morning. Sorry it’s picture’s aren’t better but when I tried to get closer he (or she
) skeedaddled! We have had at least one pair around here every year for as long as I remember.

Ken, We don't have any of them birds in Florida but that one reminds me of the one on TV that the coyote used to chase many, many moons ago.
Scott, great pictures!
It's amazing how tame critters become when they have to live close to civilization.

Roadrunners and turkeys - lots of interesting birds this week. Good stuff. OH

Here’s a few birds for this week.
My son and I hit the daylight flight just right. Sky carp and speckled bellies.

Had a little warm up this week, yesterday afternoon it hit 64° with SW winds under 10 mph - figured I better give it a go. Not a bite on fresh shrimp, but it felt mighty good to fish on the shore for a couple of hours. OH

That is a great photo. And on the positive side, what you don't catch you don't have to clean.

Re: Outdoorsman Thread
I'm geographically confused by the surf fishing photo. I have a near life long habit of orienting myself to true North, even when looking at photos, as long as they contain something with which to do that. The setting sun off the East Coast of Viet Nam in the John Wayne movie, The Green Berets, was laughable in its amateurish ignorance of geography and caused me to become dizzy.
I assume you live in North Carolina, as stated beneath your avatar.
You stated "afternoon" warm-up prompted the fishing endeavor.
So, I assume the sun is going down in the photo.
How are you situated on the coast of North Carolina so that the setting sun appears to be South East of your position?
I fully realize that the coast of North Carolina does not run in a straight North-South line, but that photo requires a drastic deviation from that.

I'm sure Bruce will weigh-in Charlie but I can see multiple areas on the Crystal Coast of North Carolina (see picture below) where you could be fishing with the setting sun appearing to be on your right.RobesonsRme.com wrote:How are you situated on the coast of North Carolina so that the setting sun appears to be South East of your position?

Charlie, Bestgear has it right. I was fishing at Atlantic Beach on Bogue Banks. That island faces due south, the eastern end (where I was - see the red dots on the attached vintage postcard) is anchored by historic Fort Macon, which guards Beaufort Inlet, the western end if the island is Bogue Inlet, where the town of Emerald Isle is located and where the sun was setting in my photo. I agree that is a great photo, OH. Thanks for the geographic info. For what it is worth, my wife and I have not had much luck the last couple of outings either. The weather in my area has been just wretched for fishing for the past couple of months. Last time we went I told my wife that I was getting tired of saying that we had a nice time even if the fish were not biting!

Re: Outdoorsman Thread
Thanks Phil. Mel, the last cold snap really shut down the bite here; I guess most fish moved offshore to their winter holes. I was catching Specks right regularly until two weeks ago, then the cold snap and it was over. Not a bite today either, only fished an hour and got tired of it. I'll be glad when March arrives, then we'll get into the good fishing weather. OH
