Camillus whittler

Post by Jporter1974 »

I picked up this Camillus today, solid old knife. I haven't seen this style Camillus before, anyone have any history on the production of this knife. ~jon

That's a sweet knife, pattern is called a "wharncliff whittler" and is one of the more sought after patterns by any company. Better close-up photos of the main blade and small blade marks would help narrow down a date. Definitely pre WW2.

Nice knife, Jporter! The bone looks really good and the blades almost full. I do not know much about Camillus so I have no history to post.

Awesome wharncliffe and lovely bone ::tu:: ::tu:: ... Early Camillus knives in my opinion were no doubt some of the best :) ...

Thanks for sharing everybody, I cannot believe that there's such a great bunch of guys on here. I want to thank the guys who are looking to try to help me find future knives for my knife collecting endeavors. The knife is a Camillus cutlery company Camillus new york and all blades are stamped. These new pictures could be better, but I'm stretched out in the recliner goldrush/moonshiners Friday night. ~Jon

Looks like the four line stamp on all 3 blades. That would put it between 1919-1941. What a great knife! ::tu::

Being a four line + wharncliff whittler + beautiful bone = great knife.

I thought I had posted to this thread yesterday, I must have erased it when I was wiping the drool off my phone! ::drool:: ::drool:: ::drool:: ::drool::

It baffles me how a company that made that knife gets so little respect among some collectors! ::shrug::

Camillus has always been under-rated and unappreciated and they made great knives, both with their name and many, many contracted brands.
