Bushcraft Knives
Just curious what all y'all use and carry.
Gerber Strongarm. Not sure it's an actual bushcraft knife but works very well when I'm in the woods!!

I have a few that I like to carry.
Any of these do the job well.

Re: Bushcraft Knives
My go-to, multi-purpose, around the farm knife is ol' Rocky the Estwing fixed blade. Not great for chopping but he gets the job done and is very durable. When I'm at the farm, Rocky is always on my belt for chores, hiking and odd jobs. Thanks to my AAPK buddies.

Pocket, fixed, machete, axe, it's all good!

A Buck 121, a Schrade 125OT linerlock hunter, a jack knife for the pocket and a hatchet and sometimes an axe. I have not found the large fixed blade knives a good fit for me; time to go to the hatchet. Just me.
Re: Bushcraft Knives
I'm not really clear on what a "Bushcraft" knife is? Most seem to be a hunting type knife with no guard.

I, am the NRA.
Re: Bushcraft Knives
Ken.. I don't understand the labeling of any fixed blades.. Hunting/hiking/bushcraft/camping?? Are not they all just knives?? I edc a small FB.. I have had people ask me why I have a hunting knife on my belt and I am not hunting??!!ken98k wrote:I'm not really clear on what a "Bushcraft" knife is? In the end it is just a knife.. OK.. Done!!

Re: Bushcraft Knives
I kinda assumed a bushcraft knife is one you don't carry in your living room. Anyhow, there are lots of fine knives on this thread. John, you have quite a selection. For a FB I most often carry a Mora.
Re: Bushcraft Knives
I have several that I would consider to be buschcraft knives. Any knife that I carry in the bush and does everything from making tender to cleaning small game, cutting rope or any other "chore" that I might encounter to me is a bushcraft knife. Here are my go to knives!
Left to right: Eskilstuna with a 4 inch blade. Next is my B&B Damascus with a 4 and 3/4 inch blade. And my little Steel Warrior with a 2 1/4 in. blade. and last is Erik Frost Mora Knife with a 3 and 3/4 in.blade. The first two are my favorite bushcraft knives!

I have three of those coming in the mail, hopefully, and I am looking forward to them. I have heard good things.Tony_Wood wrote:0F9E9718-8279-41E9-AE3E-02074075F717.jpeg

Re: Bushcraft Knives
I recently fashioned this one out of an old army mess-kit butcher's knife...
My take on a Horace Kephart style knife but with a 6 inch blade & 1/8 at the spine, handles are home grown walnut. Derek

Good job on that one, Derek. And it is nice to hear from you! I have a Korean War Schrade Pilot Survival knife (the real one, not the commercial versions) in the door of my van; I don't know if I will ever have an occasion to use it. These pics are of the safe queen; the one in the van ain't so pretty.

Ya just can’t beat those Mora knives for general cutting. Awesome knives.

Very good knives for the money. They will take and hold an edge very well.tongueriver wrote:Wow! They are here and I am impressed! Re: Bushcraft Knives
Love that third blade down.
What is that "skeleton" blade up from bottom of page?.
It's a copy almost of a divers knife I had 45ish yrs ago.
My Bush knife I've carried as primary for 50 rs. is an old Martiini. moulded handle,
Brass hilt and end cap. Plus my Puma Prince in pocket, and Hunters pal in pack for skinning.
Changed from Prince to a Schrade Sharpfinger. stag handle. engraved for caping around '80/81.
Probably one of the top 3 caping knives for small to mid sized animals.
They also make a very good all round smaller knife for everything.safer than folder. and stronger to.
