They would be favorites in my collection too! There is something about those yellow Kinfolks knives that appeals. Of course the CASES and suchlike are top notch!

The red one is a RH104. Blue and green is a RH204. If I'm not mistaken the yellow one is a RH204. The only difference is the RH104 had a blood groove.

An interesting side note to the RH204. I had one with a green handle marked Pal RH-204 that had a full BSA etch on the pile side of the blade. I sold it to a friend that was an Official Scout Knife collector. Never seen one before or since and neither has anyone else I have talked to. Post war years were tough times for knives supplied to the Scouts. Many strange things happened such as the Cardinal fixed blades. Knives were in very short supply and the Scouts got what they could form where they could.

Very Cool knife Mike. The knife I had the etch was the same but on the opposite side. Mine did not have the Scout snap and the sheath was different. Can't be too many of these floating around out there.

This Union Cutlery Co, pre-Kabar I think and gunsil agrees. Sellers picture. First one for me with the thistle pommel design.

Is the handle on that thistle knife made of wood?

I don't have in hand yet but I think it is wood based on the checking and it just looks like wood. According to ebay I should know this Friday.

My reference books on hand are handicapped by a lack of Union Cutlery/Kabar information for the fixed blade side of their business. Can anyone recommend a good source?

I also would like to know. I have a thistle knife marked Henry Sears; it is a composite material, but according to Bernard Levine, this was a common pattern turn of the century and probably first imported from the UK; Wooden handles were the norm, I think.
