Case 6208 half whittler 1973

Post by markpreston »

These little Case knives are hidden gems. Is any domestic maker doing fine little knives like this? Most every thing I see is past the 3.5 inch mark and up. Love the swell center or humpback!

This is another view, the lines in the blade are reflections off the marble.

Probably more accurately described as a swell-center pen. Case still makes them from time to time. As for other current domestic makers, by definition that's a pretty limited field - I'm not aware of anyone else making the pattern now. Someone else may. ::shrug::

I really like the balloon pen too. This half whittler has different bolsters on each end .... one round one kinda bent downward?

Here are two very similar pens, the 6208 (top knife in the picture) and 06267. The 06267 is a true "balloon end swell center", and my favorite of the two but it was discontinued about 1967 and never has been re-introduced. Not the best picture, but you can get a sense of the shapes and relative size. You can find 06267s on eBay occassionaly (there's a couple available now) but a nice one is not cheap.
