Tested 62042

Post by Jporter1974 »

Hey Guys, I need some advice on this one. I got this 62042 pattern the other day and I have been rattling myself on it because I have concerns about the originality of the knife. I have done research into the pattern and seen that Case did make the knife with this particular blade configuration, but I don't like the tang stamp on this one and I don't have another example for comparison. I retrieved what was readily available and none have a tang stamp issue like this one, but the blade fit is great. Would you have spring sinking on blade swap? There is no wobble on it and I cannot see any signs that its been taken apart. Anyone who has knowledge about this please share..~Jon

That 62042 is fine - all original and no red flags. BTW some nice ones in that lower photo - looks like a Tested 62109 spear at the top.

Jon, I think the tang stamp is disfigured by spotting and some pits here and there on the lettering that make it look different/unusual. With enough magnification you could probably see the correct outlines of the lettering. To me, only the "CA" part is impacted. The diamond shield is somewhat uncommon and 2 of your knives have it. Also the CASE BROS CUT (CO?) mark on the pearl knife is old and scarce. Nice knives. ::tu:: ::tu::

Thanks everybody.. I really don't know what I would do on some of these knives if I didn't have a great bunch of guys like I have with the AAPK family. I would like to extend my thoughts and prayers to everyone at AAPK to have safe and prosperous endeavors and a Happy New Year.
