New Buck 314bb are they a rare knife.
knive. Is one of my knives in my collection . A new in the box Buck 314 bb trapper . I took it out of the box for the first time and there is a little discoloring on the end pieces .

Nice knife! As for rarity, I have no idea.
Those "end pieces" are called bolsters. If you're concerned about 'em, a little metal polish with shine 'em right up.

As Steve said, metal polish. Some favorites around here are Brasso, Flitz, Mother's Mag & Aluminum Polish, Simichrome, etc. The bolsters are commonly made of "Nickel Silver" (also known as 'German Silver' and 'White Brass') but some are made of steel.

Not rare (you can still find them NIB) but definitely not common either - a desirable Buck Knife. Nice piece. OH

Well thank you . I have so many knives that to me you don't see much . Like the new redbone 303 , the new red 303's I had , this new trapper the new 307's , 301 , 310, 309 , they all came from my dad . I have Remington , camillus and many case knives plus others from 1984 to 2005 . I don't know anything about knives . I know you all have the experience and knowledge . I hope you don't get tired of me asking questions. Thank you
