Anybody like Opinel paring knives?

Post by markpreston »

IMO opinel makes some of the best paring knive. Ground very thin and very sharp these guys cut great. The serrated model is downright wicked. I’m slowly exposing all my crappy knife friends and family to a little bit of French perfection. About $12 a piece.

You are absolutely correct they are very very sharp however, I stopped using the one I had because it rusted so bad it was leaving rust stains on food.

It's difficult to wash and dry the knife every time you use it and then coat the blade with mineral oil or vegetable oil, but I did that just to see if I could stop the knife from rusting. Even those extreme measures didn't keep it from rusting so I stopped using it.

If it will rust when I am taking so much care to prevent rust, I know for practical purposes it will be useless because no one else in the house will be anywhere near as careful with it.

If they make stainless steel paring knives I might give one a try.

I just noticed that both knives in the OP’s photo are stamped “INOX”. ;)

Stainless all the way
Has anybody checked out opined serrations? Scary sharp. Maybe on the level of spyderco or cold steel
This is the best paring knife in Amazon for the money AND you can get a cool blade guard for it for the lunchbox or traveling ::tu::
