Thanks QS. It's a Case Collectors Club exclusive that I missed out on when the club offered it.....so I had to pay a little extra to win the bid for this one on flea-bay. I'm sure there will be others for sale, they made up to 655 of them.

Wow, Charlie! I also like your new one Squach, but the 50 together, in that condition. Wow, again!

Ya'll need to take note that those fifty knives on Ebay are described as "Baby Canoes" and are only three inches in length.

Since I do not collect Canoes, I have no idea what that means as to value.

At his asking price, that's greater than one hundred dollars per knife.

Exercise caution or make a counter offer, if possible.

Charlie,

The normal OAL closed of a canoe is 3 5/8". Some German cutlers made/make canoes at 3". The baby butterbean or baby canoe is 2 3/4". The gunboat canoe (the big boy) is 4 1/4' OAL closed

Well.... my Wostenholm Canoe just walked in.... and I am sorely disappointed.

This guy has hardly any wear that I can find but there is NO snap to the main blade. It's like the blade has worn badly where it engages the spring. I mean, when you open the blade and move it through the "walk" , it is like the spring barely touches the blade. Dang it!

Here is a pic open to a spot where there should be a visible outward movement of the spring....
Wostenholm 5.JPG
I mean the dog gone spring is STILL up inside the liners. What a mess.
The secondary blade is wonderful.... good snap, good walk and talk!!
Wostenholm 1.jpg
Oh well.......

Sorry to hear that Mike. I have three Wostenholm canoes and all three have good snap. I wonder if the master blade on yours has been replaced. There looks to be a lot of wear on the front stag scale but the blade looks much less worn.

Mike, Send it back. I have one of those and it walks and talks just fine. If that spring isn’t moving, it’s got a problem and it might take a new spring or blade to fix it. I have a mint one that I would let go.

I had a hard time getting the light right to show off the handle without a blinding glare off the blades and bolsters! This is the best shot I've got so far.

Charlie, what did you pay for that? I posted mine when I got if from CCC a few months back. It is beautiful. I might be in a mood to sell mine too. I got carried away w/ the early reserves at CK. I bought a bone 82 and just got informed that I also reserved a stag one, yikes! I know I reserved two Pembertons and two Coke Bottles, each in different handle materials. To keep the peace, I better get serious about selling some.

Looking to get my first Case canoe.....are the 70's and 80's ones comparable or should I stick with the 70's era stuff?

The '70s and earlier are hard to beat in my humble opinion.

Just started canoeing yesterday. Although I must admit the purchase at the Case/Zippo store/museum so it wasn't a surprise yesterday. First canoe model for me, sort of an impulse buy but I've admired the design for a while now. I like the slimness of them already, size about perfect for my hands. The fit and finish is very good, no blade rub, good snap, sharp. Nice smooth transition where the blades and springs meet when fully open. ::tu:: Not fond of the etch on the blade. It will see pocket time for sure.

Excellent choice. In fact, that same canoe will be my next one. A local hardware store carries it. Welcome to the Boat House.
