I had a good friend.... (Gone to be with Jesus now)... HE Would NEVER be caught without a pocket knife. SO, what he ALWAYS did when he landed after a flight, was to go to the first store that had any and buy a pocket knife!
He would not be caught anywhere IF he could help it WITHOUT one in his pocket.
The famous saying around my group of folks is when somebody asks, "Do you have a knife?"
Your answer is, "Do I have my britches on?"
