This recently acquired Camillus is proving its worth.

That bloodwood is attractive for sure Tony. I kept looking at the dealer pics of those when they came out but couldn't convince myself I'd be happy with the trapper pattern, having second thoughts about my decision not to pick one up after seeing it in pics again. :)

I'm glad you like it John and hope your search is successful. I tend to favor smooth scales, but I especially like the treatment on this knife which has just a bit of texture, just enough to feel. So, "knife feel" for me is perfect.

Thanks, geocash, it has the nicest wood grain of any Queen Barlow I've seen (short of the Trestle Pine boxelder burl Grand Portage). The D2 holds an edge like mad, too.

While I was on the hunt for a few new GEC releases I noticed some of the dealers still have both 1- and 2-blade bloodwood 48s in stock. For me, even though the trapper isn't my ideal pattern, it's the "improved" part that really shines - that full-sized Wharnie blade is the perfect complement and the 2-blade fills my hand just right. It's not too late... ::poke::

Mission BBQ in Jacksonville has some good prime rib, but plastic utensils for beef? Come on. I had the blade covered with my Camillus 75 but needed a metal fork - maybe I should track down a Case Hobo before my next visit. OH

Today I toted a Case Sodbuster for the first time in years. Broke down a deer and boned out the ribs and neck with it (did use my Milwaukee Sawzall to cut through the pelvis). The '74 2138 felt good and preformed like a good knife should. :)

I did a chop job on an old T-49 Ka-Bar fishing knife I got in a big lot on Ebay, ditching the fish scaler so as to make it what God intended it to be--a single blade monster. I've been carrying it around on and off for a few weeks just to be cool. But it's really too big and useless to be carrying in the burbs and my back pocket busts out crying every time it sees this bad boy knife coming... (second photo shows it next to the T-28 for comparison). A work in progress, I'd like to eventually put new covers on it as the hook sharpener is ugly as all get out. Enjoy!
