Double Schatts!

Post by upnorth »

Back when I had more of a case of the Schatts (I have partly cured it with antique Schrade pills, but they are expensive :shock: ), I happened across these Carpenter's whittlers from series XV. Designed by Bill Howard, now gone to Great Eastern, I quite liked the variation on the traditional balloon whittler, and who doesn't love Stag and Sheepfoot blades?? The big decision was which stag did I like better!!?? So using common (non)sense, I bought them both! I still can't decide! Even my wife laughs at me:mrgreen:!

Great pattern Charlie, Thanks for bringing it up. I didn't know that Bill came up with this pattern. Learned something new today! I carry this knife in my "going to town jeans" Love the stag & it is very pocket friendly, with the round bolsters. But what I really like most about this knife is the wedge that is between the 2 secondary blades. (coping & clip) This design makes for a beefy thick main sheepsfoot blade with a double spring set-up. She really snaps into place & stays there.
I need to become more of a wood carver- whittler to use this knife as it was intended.
GREAT PATTERN! ::tu::
