Top, High carbon steel, 5 blade cattle punch is spiral on one side if that helps with the manufacturer.middle Buck 307. Bottom RR 1503. Your welcome. ::tu:: ::handshake::
Dollars to doughnuts the 5-blade is a Camillus. That faux stag is instantly recognizable.

Didn't get a photo of yesterday's totes but I do have older pics. Trestle Pine Grand Portage, Queen #31, Buck 110.

Beautiful handles on that Barlow in the top pic Tony! The rest are not shabby either but I like those scales. Are they exotic wood or composite? Either way I like them.

Hope life is well!

geo, what's the knife beside the Barlow?
Love the looks!
Thanks, Steve. Here's another side of the Queen's companion, with the top of the first "K" of the Kon-Kav etch barely visible. "Schrade Walden N.Y. U.S.A." stamp & "880" on the other side. I wish I could just turn the Delrin into bone & not change anything else about it.

Tony, I am not a barlow man but that Trestle Pine might convert me. Boy those stocks are beautiful. ::tu:: ::tu::

Delrin? While I, too, prefer bone, the coloring on that would certainly ensure some pocket time.
Take care and God bless,

Thanks, Jerry and doglegg! The Grand Portage is clad in boxelder (wood) burl handles. It's built on the Queen #69 frame with CPM 154 blade steel. One of the single nicest wood knives I've ever seen, much less had the pleasure of owning.

I'm also a fan of the #31 half-Congress in what I have to assume is dyed maple burl. It's slim but substantial in hand and a total looker.

Frankly, those S-W Delrin knives (esp. the muskrats and stock knives) have some of the nicest Delrin I've seen on any knives. They could easily hang with some of my old bone knives without looking cheap or out of place. I've got a 787 muskrat from the Ellenville days but clad in what appears to be the same handles and it sure is a looker, even in plastic.

Thanks, I am the exact opposite, I couldn't own these knives and not use them! I don't keep them in a safe, I don't even own a safe.[/quote]

Rock on Mman, how refreshing. I used to have many. Now far fewer. Get no great satisfaction from my safe Queens, they sit there and take up space and no one sees them, no one uses or enjoys them, just showing them off rarely is not the same at all. Using them gives me a glow, a charge, a feeling I get nowhere else and never from seeing a knife in the safe/knife roll for me. It's cool to have a nice knife around and be able to use it and enjoy it. And can't tell you how much more careful and less apt to lose a looker or a beauty than some gas station knife. Life's too short not to enjoy a knife you love and hunted down and payed good money for. Kudos to you and all who turn Safe Queens into Pocket Kings. I'man I've got a ton of safe queens but I must admit the knives that give me the most pleasure are the ones I put in my pocket or on my belt and put to use.

Don't own anything worthy of being considered a collectable, so they get toted and used. ::tu:: ::ds::

The shield on this Schrade Barlow includes 1984. The tang has the word Heritage above the Schrade N.Y. USA. The scroll on the main blade reads Everlastingly Sharp. In fact it is sharper than many similar blades.

John, It seems to have been a long time since I purchased a Barlow, but as I have been rotating thru them for EDC I am re-experiencing the pleasure I had when I first got them. All of them I've been showing recently have good sharpness but today's Schrade has been exceptional in that regard.

These two have been with me today, the Sparrow from Sean O'Hare is carried often. The Mike Sakmar mokume takes on a nice patina, or a little simichrome and it looks like new. The shiny area is where the guard rides on the inside if the sheath. Turkish walnut with Mike Norris "Crazy Lace" stainless damascus.

I can't pull my eyes away from the warm grain and coloration of that lovely trapper, Montanaman! ::tu::

Here are two of my pocket kings toted today representing both sides of the North Atlantic. Few knives take an edge as well as the pre-Schrade Wolstenholm Barlow.

Mman, That Sparrow is an Eagle in my eyes. Liking the Sakmar mokume treatment very much. I admit to reservations about the Damascus pattern.

Thanks QS, Mike Norris is a Master welder and was welding on nuclear subs 40 years ago. His damascus adorns some of the finest knives on the planet. Many top makers like his damascus because it is welded so well, never any surprises in the middle. The pattern is very complicated to make. I like it because I know Mike and his damascus performs very well, and I know how difficult it is to make correctly.
