Definition of "Pocketworn"
This Camillus #72 is listed on eBay and matches the picture in my mind when I see a knife listed as "pocketworn". In my opinion, this is the definition of "pocketworn". As you can see from the last picture, the handles are "Brownstag®", used from mid-'50s until the mid-'60s. (Note the main is a little short.)
Forged on the anvil of discipline.

Wonder how many dollars worth of change it has rubbed up against over the years.

Re: Definition of "Pocketworn"
That is a well worn old knife for sure Jerry. I like the pocket worn look, especially if it is my carry time that has earned it. I know I post this one around alot, but it is one of my favorites, and has seen alot of carry and use in the 6 years that since I got new and unused it in a trade with Junebug. I think it now fits the definition of pocket worn. Here are pics of it new the day I got it and pics of it today, 6 years plus later.

Mike,
If you come up with another reason to post that knife, go ahead. I ain't tired of it any more than you are.

Mike, that's pretty neat. Not too many times do you get to see a before and after 6 years of use...and the associated wear. I switch out my edc about every week and have it in a sheath. I don't ever suspect I'd be able to duplicate that. Seems I bond with most of the knives I carry...but that's a special bond!

I think this old favorite 6375 of mine counts as pocket worn.

Re: Definition of "Pocketworn"
This USA era 5392 is the closest thing I have to actual pocket worn. I can't take credit though as I bought it that way.
If you look closely at the handle on the back, you can just barely see the lines that have worn down.

Here’s is an 8 dot 5375 that has worn some. Blades are fuller than the XX6375 though.

The front handle on that knife, at least by the picture, looks almost translucent. Very interesting how they turned out.313 Mike wrote: 6 years plus later.

Re: Definition of "Pocketworn"
I have a few old knives which are no doubt "pocketworn" but this old stag folding dirk which dates to pre-1860 for sure always comes to my mind first - The stag is not only rounded but worn thin... There is no tang stamp but the liners are integral with the bolster - I was told probably very very old Sheffield - I always wonder if it possibly could have been very early American but perhaps less likely.. I guess what always fascinates me about this oldie is when, who and where was it carried

Mike, I had two old Case knives that looked just like that one. That is my favorite pocket worn look on older knives.
