Found This I.Wilson In My Workbench
This has been in my family seems like forever. Never saw anyone use it. I forgot all about it until I was cleaning out one of my drawers in my workbench. It was on the bottom of a lot of stuff. The handle is original but in bad shape. I couldn't read the maker marks the way the knife was. I gave it a quick cleaning and there were the maker marks, nice and clear. So is it a skinning knife? The first 4 pictures are "before" and the rest are after.

Appears to be a skinning knife. Excellent quality those old knives are. A re-handle job would make that look just like new again. Nice find.

First, thanks to all who contributed. Considering the relative that this originally belonged to, I can safely say that this is from before 1920, maybe many years earlier. i am considering replacing the handle. But I am also considering displaying and leaving the whole knife just the way it is.

Good find. We used butcher knives like that to kill and cut up hogs back when I was a kid.

It's a nice old family artifact.
You can find lot of knives to cut with.
Sometimes those nice old small pins can be a giveaway to an older knife.

That knife has been places and done things!
My vote would be to let it keep its history. It must have taken a lot to be in that shape. I bet there’s stories to go with the scars. Maybe someone in the family remembers ‘em. Could be a cool project to find out!

There are no relatives left that would know anything about this knife. Believe me, I have a lot of questions, zoogirl wrote:That knife has been places and done things!
