Re: Outdoorsman Thread
Dinadan, I place my bird feed near a couple of big coniferous trees so the birds can scatter into the branches when alarmed. I notice the birds prefer eating there and only after consuming the feed there do they move into a more open area. Had a female marsh hawk fly over this afternoon.

Re: Outdoorsman Thread
Folks, I have not had much time to bow hunt this year.
Yesterday was marked on the calendar as a must.
My son graduates this year and will be in college next fall, so it was our last good all day hunt together for a few seasons.
We hit our favorite spot on a pinch point between soybean fields and a creek. A public land, state conservation area. He took his first deer here at age seven, and shot this deer on the spot last year. Yesterday we asked God for a memorable day.
This is what He offered. Thankful for the day.
One for the memory books.

Those are two fine bucks! I assume there is a smiling face behind the blacked out spots.
Enjoy these special times with your son!

I pick up sheds in the spring for knife building. Also have a couple of guys that sell me the sheds they find.
We have a management area near here that is extremely limited in hunts/hunters. It has some very large deer with very few hunters. Proves to be an exceptional place to shed hunt.

Very nice buck, Tony, certainly a day to remember! But I am with Scott about asking God for a memorable day!
My wife and I were out yesterday enjoying a perfect autumn day. She proved herself to be a real fishwife by catching the biggest fish.

Mel, on observation, I think you caught the biggest fish and it wasn't yesterday. Looks like you both had fun.Dinadan wrote:Very nice buck, Tony, certainly a day to remember! But I am with Scott about asking God for a memorable day!

Dinadan, that is a nice fish! Bay fishing? My dad lives in Alabama and likes to come down your way to fish on the bay. My favorite spot in your corner of the world is Mike’s Seafood in Gulf Shores. A close runner up is Joe Patti’s in P’cola. I’m better in the end of a fork than on the end of a fishing rod.
Fall is just about wrapped up here. Took this pic just before the last wind/rain front. She does not look like this anymore.

Thanks, fellows. My wife is a keeper! She released that fish because it was uninjured and "too nice to keep." I agreed - it was 24" and really bigger than I like.
Tony, we were in the Mississippi Sound, out of Bayou la Batre. That tree certainly is autumnal!
